Today, Seattle needs new energy in government with a vision for the next generation and commitment to measure how policy serves our community. The issues that Seattle faces today are clear. We need to:

  • Improve economic prosperity for all by stimulating job growth and creating more affordable housing.
  • Encourage environmental sustainability through public transportation, industry regulation, and personal conservation opportunities.
  • Support our youth through violence prevention, improved education, and diverse cultural programs.

I have a plan to accomplish these goals and I want to work with all Seattleites to bring a better and brighter future to our city.

Improve economic prosperity for all:

To improve economic prosperity across Seattle and to ensure our economy is more robust for future challenges, I have a plan to change the way we do four things.

1) Promoting and advancing new and small businesses.
  • Removing the head tax
  • Streamline the permitting and reporting requirements so they are more efficient
2) Stimulate the growth of affordable housing.
  • Renew and perhaps expand the housing levy
  • Expand incentives for developers to create low-income and affordable housing across the city
3) Reduce the time required to start new projects by developers, the city, and neighborhoods.
  • Rebuilding the permit process for new developments
4) Extend prosperity across the city.
  • Implement a Community Revitalization Initiative focused on the economically disadvantaged communities – bringing together business, developers, and neighborhoods to invest in new green affordable communities with improved employment opportunities and additional support for youth.

My campaign to promote new business, ensure affordable housing, reduce government bureaucracy and extending prosperity to all people of Seattle will ensure broad and sustainable economic prosperity.

Ensure environmental sustainability:

I will work tirelessly to ensure the environmental sustainability of Seattle and our planet for generations to come. To do this, I plan to focus on public transportation, industry regulation, and personal conservation opportunities.

1) Increase public transportation adoption both within Seattle and Regionally.
  • Prioritize transportation funding for alternative modes including light rail, rapid ride bus, bicycling, and pedestrian transportation
  • Create incentives that drive higher adoption for each mode and publicly measure goals and adoption
2) Implement industry regulations to reduce waste
  • Implement green building codes for all types of new and existing structures
  • Regulate the use of certain pesticides, fertilizers, and other industrial chemicals
  • Utilize the Low Impact Development approach for development and stormwater management
3) Identify and implement initiatives that "move the needle" to realize personal conservation opportunities
  • Find additional opportunities like the green bag campaign that can quickly reduce consumer waste
  • Publish goals & performance metrics on Seattle’s consumption of goods that correlate to impact to the environment and offer incentives for households to reduce environmental impact

My plan to lead the region in environmental protection will ensure a healthy city for generations to come.

Support our Youth:

The most valuable asset in our society is our youth. They are our future, and we have an opportunity to ensure they are set up to succeed in advancing our community forward. I plan to focus on reducing youth violence, improving education, and offering a diverse range of cultural programs.

1) Empower youth to move beyond the challenges of adolescence
  • Provide youth with tools to handle stress and increase confidence and inner strength to better handle criticism and peer pressure
  • Inspire youth to integrate service in their life to develop an attitude of service towards others and caring for the planet
2) Improve education and offer a diverse range of cultural programs
  • Prioritize funding for the school district to support teachers, facilities, and community youth programs
  • Encourage a diverse range of cultural programs that broadens youth’s vision of the world
  • Mobilize a substantial mentorship program for youth starting at a very young age so they can have positive role models and lasting support

By bringing together community, schools, non-profits, and the City Government we will provide each of our youth with the opportunities to achieve their dreams.
